Losing

As human beings, we’re all on a journey called life. It’s a journey where we face all sorts of things, other humans, strong emotions and adventures. It’s also a journey where we win sometimes, and we lose other times.

At first, it starts with losing a favorite toy, a doll, coloring pens maybe or anything that means a great deal to a child. As kids, when we lose something special to us we cry for a while, then we take a nap and forget about the lost item, or we replace it with a new one. But as we grow old, life gets more meaningful to us if we are one of the lucky ones that get to experience the true meaning of life. We no longer feel sorry for losing objects, but we fall in deep sadness when losing significant others such as friends, parents or loved ones, or even for losing ourselves from a time to another, for missing good opportunities and golden moments.

We lose and we keep losing and it hurts a lot. And we can’t help but ask why has it be this painful and why were they taken from us so suddenly and so brutally.

The why question lives with us and it remains unanswered for a pretty long while, until the time we are close to the end of our journey.  Only by then we realize that the pain did nothing but made us stronger, and thanks to this strength we could make it to this point, otherwise, we would have quit for the slightest of inconveniences. Only by then we realize that the universe has plans for us.
